In the last 5 years Star India has been introducing the concept of India drama series in Europe with a special focus on Central and Eastern Europe.
In Russia following the launch of Diya Aur Baati Hum – (Soulmates) and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? – (What do I call this love?) on NTK Krasnodar two years ago, a month ago U-TV one of Russia’s national TV channels has picked up Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? and the show is enjoying a amazing success with impressive ratings for the 25-55 female audience.
“We are very happy to bring back India to the viewers in Russia”- says Christina Vlahova, CEO of Intellecta Srl a long time partner of Star India in the territories of Europe, Russia and the CIS countries. “And with the typical audience of U-TV, the series now is reaching the younger Russian women as well and offers them a very colorful and romantic taste of India.”
Another success story for Star India has been the opening up of Georgia as a new market for the Indian drama series. A year and a half a ago, the Georgian viewers had not heard of any Indian drama series and very little about Bollywood and now it has turned to a one of the very established markets for Star India with 5 different series being signed up for the Georgian audience to enjoy.
“Georgia is a market we are really proud of”- says Sandeep Jain, EVP Commercial & Syndication, – “In one year’s time this market has flourished and is now showing Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai – (Farewell to the Bride), Saraswatichandra, Pyar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara . And we are very proud with our partnership with Rustavi2 and IMEDI TV.” At the end of February and coinciding with DISCOP Istanbul, Georgian viewers will be able to enjoy Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? and Kasautii Zindagii Kay – (The Test of Life).
Star India’s Syndication team will present their portfolio of these most successful Indian TV drama series and with a track record of their impressive ratings success in Central and Eastern Europe at DISCOP Istanbul 2015.
