DRAMAS, FORMATS, AND NOW NEWS FROM TURKEY ARE SET TO CONQUER THE WORLD AT DISCOP ISTANBUL

Los Angeles, CA, 26 February – As DISCOP Istanbul 2014 today confirmed record high registration numbers; RATEM, Turkey’s union for broadcasters and TV producers, announced that Turkey is projected to generate US$1 Billion in TV content sales, making it the second largest TV producer in the world. RATEM will be making its first trip to DISCOP Istanbul to promote a newly launched strategy, designed to nurture regional and international co-productions.

DISCOP Istanbul has played a major supporting role in Turkey’s development as one of the world’s major content producers. It is estimated that regions covered by DISCOP Istanbul and DISCOP AFRICA represent 68% of their $200 Million annual sales and show a 29% revenue increase across DISCOP Istanbul’s four-year history.

The success of DISCOP in the region has now attracted almost every major media outlet in Turkey, including first time participants and official event partner, Anadolu Agency (AA).

Deputy General Manager for AA, Cagatay Culcuoglu, said, “We are very happy to be a part of DISCOP Istanbul. As one of the world’s most influential agencies we look forward to providing content to production and distribution businesses across the Middle East, West and Central Asia, Gulf countries and Northern Africa.”

DISCOP Istanbul’s influence in the region has continued to grow this year. 2014 has produced a 50% increase in Middle East participants including brand new registrations from Iraq and an Iraqi Pavilion. Other notable Middle East participants debuting in Istanbul include Arabia, Libya, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.*

South Africa will also take a pavilion for the first time in order to promote the country as the entry point for the developing content business in the continent of Africa.

Patrick Zuchowicki, General Manager of Basic Lead organizers of DISCOP added, “DISCOP Istanbul is now an undeniable force in the region and an essential tool for local content producers to expand their reach across the world.”

1000+ delegates and more than 250 international exhibiting sellers will be taking part in DISCOP ISTANBUL 2014 including a major contingent of Turkish producers of drama series and formats, alongside national pavilions representing, among others, France, the UK, Malaysia, Korea and South Africa.
