Turkish Drama Goes To Latin America

Turkish Dramas have been making their way into television screens around the world and every season they find themselves in new regions. They have long been airing in the Mid East, Europe, Africa and even found themselves in China in 2013 but could they dare enter the competitive, saturated, Telenovela market of Latin America?
This is no longer a question. Rumors that Mega, a Chilean broadcasting TV channel had acquired the telenovela Las Mil y Una Noches from Turkish distributer Global Agency have now been confirmed. Iván Sánchez, director of Latin American Sales for Global Agency officially announced the transaction, making Las Mil y Una Noches the first Turkish telenovela to be broadcasted in Latin America.
The series will be dubbed in Spanish, with Chilean idioms tailored to Chile’s audience. Juan Ignacio Vicente, International Contents manager for Mega, expressed high optimism for series due to “universal conflicts. Besides, the production quality is superior to the one we have. The pace and rhythm is very similar to the ones Latin American telenovelas have, it’s a classic romantic melodrama.”
Dates and times for Chilean broadcasting have not been set. Las Mil y Una Noches has been broadcasted in over 45 countries.
