Global Agency has been releasing a surge of news leading up to DISCOP Istanbul 2014. Today we learned CBS will pilot “Keep Your Light Shining” a singing reality format from Global Agency. The American Network has attached former American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe to the show and will be titled, “In the Spotlight”. In the last two weeks we’ve reported on Global Agency licensing TV-format “Shopping Monster” to TV3 in Latvia and being the first to send a Turkish drama to Latin America.
“In the last five years, we have become very well known for our reality formats,” says CEO and creator of “Keep Your Light Shining”, Izzet Pinto. “We noticed that international buyers were always looking for singing talent formats and there was room in the market for something fresh and original. With its strong visual appeal and plenty of audience interactivity, “Keep Your Light Shining” ticked all the boxes for our buyers. We are very pleased to see how quickly it has been picked up and are sure it has all the potential to be the next big thing in talent shows.”
“Keep Your Light Shining” places 12 contest on a darkened stage and are given equal singing time under a spotlight. They have limited amounts of time to impress the audience and judges. One contestant is eliminated after every song by audience vote. The judges provide commentary and can protect contestants but ultimately the audience decides.
The original format was launched in 2013 and has since been optioned in Australia, China, France, Germany, Italy, MENA region, Spain, Thailand and the USA.
